New Bamboo X-treme® Deck Boards Reduce Installation Time and Fitting for more Applications

Bamboo expert for indoor and outdoor solutions, MOSO® international upgrades its bamboo X-treme® decking boards already known for their time-saving installation. The boards can now be applied to more demanding and creative architectural projects.

MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® is suitable for many applications in and around construction thanks to the unique process of combining heat treatment at 200 °C with very high density, according to the company.

This process gives MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® exceptional dimensional stability, durability and fire rating as well as hardness superior to the best tropical timber species. With such characteristics, it can therefore be used as a deck board, cladding, fencing and outdoor furniture.

Deck boards are generally 21 mm thick. This year, MOSO® is adding a 30 mm thick (137 x 30 mm) plank to its Bamboo X-treme® range. This new size is adapted to dress demanding architectural projects such as pedestrian walkways or bridges.

Like wood, bamboo is a natural material whose color can vary over time. Bamboo X-treme® deck boards, for example, have a natural dark brown color. Applied outdoors, they are influenced by ultraviolet radiation which slowly changes their color towards silver gray. Applying a finish to the boards, however, preserves the original tone. Whatever its color, this material will retain all of its technical characteristics.

Anxious to constantly improve the quality of its products and meet the needs of its customers, MOSO® now offers a range of patio boards finished in the factory with the Sikkens Cetol WF 771 saturator. This process offers an advantage in terms of gaining of time. On the one hand, the craftsman is exempt from a finishing step during installation and on the other hand, the terrace is immediately usable, which is a strong asset when the Bamboo X-treme® terrace is installed in a space open to the public.

In addition to boards with a standard smooth and rigid face, MOSO® now offers a terrace board with a V-ridged face and a 155 mm wide brushed face. The brushed and ridged V blade is reversible: the ridged side revealing the fine ridges for an elegant design or the brushed side for a secure installation. The brushed version deck board achieves excellent results in terms of slip resistance which makes it a very good option for installations around swimming pools or in areas with heavy traffic.

The “curved” deck boards have a slightly convex and planed surface. Visually, this is hardly distinguishable from a smooth deck board. However, the new “domed” MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® plank is very practical. Due to a slight crown of 1.5 mm, the water flows directly to the side, so that the slats, after a rain for example, dry quickly and become less dirty. The new shape also facilitates installation since the latter does not require any slope. The curved deck boards are available in 155mm wide.
