The Linz Musiktheater, designed by Terry Pawson & Architektur Consult, is one of the most avant-garde opera houses in the world, and boasts perfectly balanced acoustics fine-tuned for both operatic and symphonic performances. The seats themselves have been carefully designed to actively contribute to the hall's acoustic profile, guaranteeing the same performance whether occupied or empty. In addition to excellent acoustics, the theatre was designed to offer the best possible visibility, with its tribune seating arranged in three-dimensional curves: this result was achieved by creating twenty-three versions of the same chair, with six variations of the seat and fourteen of the backrest.
