The new Medical and Surgical Library at Rome's Catholic University of the Sacred Heart extends across three floors, each characterized by a particular color: the first floor, devoted to dialogue, is identified by green; the second floor, devoted to calm, is yellow; the third floor, devoted to silence, is red. Here, both the single seats and the silent rooms are acoustically optimized with Fonology panels. Aresline and Contract Design Network also designed the custom-made tech equipment, allowing each seat to be simultaneously independent and connected to the library system. Acoustics, technology, design and the functionality of the furnishings all work together to create the quality and unique character of these spaces.
