225 lighting columns and 90 custom bins for Kutaisi Central Park, Georgia

Artay produced the columns and, for the same project, a bin that appears on no catalogue page — steel, laser-cut to a perforated pattern, with cast aluminium parts on the lid.

In 2025 the central park in Kutaisi, Georgia, was relit with 225 lighting columns from Artay. The columns stand 5.5 metres — a park height rather than a road height, high enough to carry a wide pedestrian route from few positions and low enough to keep the luminaire in scale under the tree canopy. The bodies are hot-dip galvanised steel, designed to EN 40-5, galvanised to EN ISO 1461 and finished in electrostatic powder coating.

The order also included 90 bins, and those were not a catalogue item. The project called for a perforated pattern, so the bodies were laser-cut to that drawing and fitted with cast aluminium parts on the lid. They carry the same galvanising and the same powder coating as the columns, which means bin and column age at the same rate and hold the same colour for the same number of years.

The work reached us through the project contractor, which is how most public landscape work comes to us. Artay has cast its own aluminium in its own foundry in Istanbul since 1999 and exports to more than 33 countries. A one-off steel item needs no mould at all, which is why ninety of them could be built to the columns' own delivery date.
