Now you can bless the furniture for your home
Why should you bless your furniture?
ArtesMoble's high quality furniture collection offers its clients the possibility to bless the purchased furniture. When thinking about blessing furniture, the first thing we should recognise is God's providence, to receive his blessing on the fruit of our work, for the good of our family.
The word "bless" comes from the Latin "bene dicere" which means "to speak well of", a reminder of the goodness of God.
This idea came about following a client's request to have his purchased furniture blessed., it was a nice surprise to receive this enquiry, it reminded us that faith in God is present in many homes, in mine as well, for a Christian every object is a gift from God, which should be used for the good of our families, our fellow men and ourselves.
The challenge of blessing the furniture was much easier than we thought, we just had to go to a catholic church, talk to the priest and arrange a day for the blessing. The most complicated and risky part was to take the furniture to the parish church without packaging, avoiding hitting or damaging the perfect finish of ArtesMoble, which has recently been innovated with a treatment against bacteria, fungus and mold that has anti-dust properties. Finally the furniture was blessed by the Priest in the rite of the Roman Catholic Church with holy water.
The Christian meaning of blessing non-religious material goods is that the laity community realize that objects are also gifts received from God through our work, therefore we must put them to good use, so they can become a spiritual encouragement.
The liturgy for the blessing of objects according to the Roman Rite of the Roman Catholic Apostolic Church states that objects can be blessed by both priests and laity people (Christian faithful). So whether you are baptized, male or female, married or single, If you are part of God's people, you can bless objects
Below we have provided a basic rite framework so that you can bless your house, furniture, car……
Rite of blessing objects by a lay person:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All make the sign of the cross and respond: Amen.
Greeting: Let us proclaim the greatness of God, who gave man command over the works of his hands.
All respond: Amen
The Layperson leading the "Minister" blessing reads:
Man, with his work and his ingenuity, with the help of science and technology, is expanding more and more his dominance over nature. Thanks to this and by contributing their own activity, they earn a large number of assets, thus helping to improve their own living conditions and those of their peers. When certain objects are inaugurated, presenting them for the first time, a celebration may be appropriate that highlights how the Christian message imposes on men the inescapable and social duty to improve the world.
Immediately afterwards, the Minister or one of those present reads the following text of Sacred Scripture.
Jn 4, 5-14: Whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again
Listen now, brothers, to the words of the holy Gospel according to John:
In Samaria Jesus came to the town called Sychar, which is near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there. Jesus was tired from his long trip, so he sat down beside the well. It was about noon. A Samaritan woman came to the well to get some water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink This happened while his followers were in town buying some food. The woman answered, “I am surprised that you ask me for a drink! You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman!” (Jews have nothing to do with Samaritans.) Jesus answered, “You don’t know what God can give you. And you don’t know who I am, the one who asked you for a drink. If you knew, you would have asked me, and I would have given you living water.” The woman said, “Sir, where will you get that living water? The well is very deep, and you have nothing to get water with. Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob? He is the one who gave us this well. He drank from it himself, and his sons and all his animals drank from it too.” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But anyone who drinks the water I give will never be thirsty again. The water I give people will be like a spring flowing inside them. It will bring them eternal life.”
Lord's word.
Depending on the circumstances, a responsorial psalm or other suitable song may be said or sung.
Responsorial psalm
R. Alleluia.
Praise the Lord from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;
Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens
Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created. He put them in place forever and ever; he made a law that will never change.
The minister, depending on the circumstances, briefly exhorts those present, explaining the biblical reading, so that they perceive by faith the meaning of the celebration.
PRAYERS
Before the prayer of blessing, the common prayer can also be done.
In the works and inventions of human ingenuity, we must recognize the permanent action of God the creator. It is just and appropriate that, gratefully, we offer our praises to God and that we invoke him confidently, saying:
R. Lord, Prosper the work of our hands!
Eternal God, who created all things and subjected them to the dominion of man, grant us to use wisely the forces of nature for your glory and the benefit of men.
R. Lord, Prosper the work of our hands!
You who continually give us your Spirit, make us cooperate with him, not only with technique, but also with justice and charity, in his work of renewing the face of the earth.
R. Make the works of our hands prosperous, Lord.
You who penetrate the hearts of all, make the technical progress of humanity never escape the control of a prudent direction.
R. Lord, Prosper the work of our hands!
You who want us all, without exception, to call you Father, make the victims of all discrimination enjoy, with the help of all, the rights and common goods.
R. Lord, Prosper the work of our hands!
Let's pray.
Now everyone prays in silence. Silence is an integral and important part of every liturgy.
PRAYER OF BLESSING
Blessed are you, Lord our God, and worthy of all praise, you who, through the ingenuity and work of man, care for the progress of all creation, and in the inventions of the human race you admirably manifest your greatness and your goodness; We ask that those who wish to use this "furniture" to improve their quality of life, recognize you admirably in your works and make an effort to dedicate themselves fully to your service. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.
After the prayer of blessing, the furniture is put in its place for the first time. Thus, the blessing precedes the inauguration, with which it is expressed that the use that must have as an essential end the glory of God and the good of men. Depending on the circumstances, a suitable song can be interpreted.
CONCLUSION OF THE RITE
The lay minister, invoking the blessing of God and making the cross of the sign says: God, from whom all good comes, shine his face upon us and guide us on the path of peace.
R. Amen.
It is advisable to end the rite with a suitable song.
