B&B Italia starts 2017 with the launch in Cologne of the first new products for the year: three exclusive

projects designed by Antonio Citterio, all dedicated to the outdoors, which reconfirms outdoor spaces as an important area for design.

The challenge is once again that of bringing outside the same qualities that distinguish the indoor seating systems: technological innovation, ergonomics and formal research, quality and comfort.

The brand new proposals for the living “en plain air” are showcased alongside elegant settings with proposals of the B&B Italia and Maxalto collections.

For the first time, after the acquisition of last September, Arclinea is presented inside the B&B Italia stand with the Principia kitchen designed by Antonio Citterio.

Ray Outdoor Natural - Ray Outdoor Fabric, design Antonio Citterio

After the success of the indoor series, the Ray seating system by Antonio Citterio equips itself for outdoor use with two new seating versions, Natural and Fabric.

They have in common a light extruded aluminium frame and are distinguished by different interlacing details and materials. Ray Outdoor Natural features a “rope” weave inspired by natural Abaca to perfectly merge with nature. It uses textilene, a material that is perfectly suited for outdoor settings.

Ray Outdoor Fabric presents a “ribbon” weave made of polypropylene fibre - material resistant to both UV rays and atmospheric agents - in colours that range from turquoise to blue, from acid green to dove grey, and bright bordeaux.

Both versions include sofas in two depths and modular elements - from terminal elements to chaise longue - and armchairs. The sunbed with wheels is foreseen only in the Fabric version. The seats are completed by seat and back cushions that make them particularly welcoming and comfortable, besides offering exclusive chromatic combinations.

Erica, design Antonio Citterio

A new series made up of armchair, sofa and chair, even in a stackable version, whose lightness and design, complying with ergonomic and environmental adaptability criteria, make them suitable for use both in public and residential settings. The structures, made of a technological blend of extruded and die-cast aluminium elements, are combined with special high resistance synthetic fabric interlacing that have been studied for outdoor use. The collection revolves around three basic colours - white, dove grey, anthracite - which offer the following combinations: white for the structure with dove grey for the interlacing, dove grey both for the structure and the interlacing, anthracite for the structure and the interlacing. Soft seat and back cushions, in a wide range of colours, complete the seats and guarantee a comfortable relax.

Ginestra, design Antonio Citterio

A series of large rectangular and round dining tables featuring natural teak for the structural details and tops, enriched with central inserts in white Calacatta porcelain stone. The series also includes a chair with sinuous harmonious lines, clearly inspired by Nordic design. The structure is in natural teak with a polypropylene fibre interlacing in beige colour. Comfort is guaranteed by soft seat and back cushions.

Mirto Outdoor, design Antonio Citterio

The Mirto sunbeds, which were awarded the honourable mention at the latest edition of Compasso d’Oro Award, have been enhanced with a new solution with sunshade.

Textile Collection

For the new outdoor products B&B Italia has studied a series of fabrics that match the colours of the interlacing details and structures. Made of 100% died polyester yarn with water repellent Teflon treatment, they foresee two types of textures: one with homogeneous weave in 12 colours,

the other with a contrast design in 6 colours. A wide chromatic proposal that ranges from white to anthracite, from dove gray to acid green, from pinkish tones to bordeaux
