Siemens headquarters

MILAN - ITALY

The new Siemens headquarters in Milan, Italy, called "Galileo", have 15,500m² of energy-efficient workspaces for around 1,000 employees who use it daily. This addition is part of the 86,000 m² already existing offices, sports facilities, green areas and car parks for the German brand's staff in Italy.

Architects Barreca & La Varra's idea was to completely redesign the new building spaces without losing the essence on the already existing ones. Some of Siemens guidelines emphasized on working on the facade and windows to ensure optimum energy efficiency and arranging the offices following the in-house motto "intelligent work"; in other words, configuring large undivided open spaces so that interpersonal relationships between collaborators and working environments converge.

That is how the Siemens interiors are designed in Milan. A project rounded out by the DEGW brand from the Lombardini22 interior design studio, creating comfortable, multipurpose, technological and sustainable spaces. The building's efficiency is accomplished, among others, thanks to the great work done on the structure, the facade and finding an appropriate Bandalux solution. The solar protection system was designed combining indoor Premium and Premium Plus roller shades and outdoor BSO blinds that get seamlessly integrated into the building facade, reducing the building's heat load.
