Rosenbad

Renovating History in Stockholm, Sweden

Owned by the Swedish State, the Rosenbad is a historic building located in central Stockholm, specifically in the Norrmalm precinct. The building was designed in 1902 by Art Nouveau architect Ferdinand Boberg. This building features ornate sculptural stonework characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. Its name, which translates "rosen bath" in Swedish, reflects the elegance and artistic flair that define this architectural period.

The building underwent renovation in the autumn of 2018 and was completed in 2023 to merge the historic architecture with modern decor. In collaboration with the talented team at Ahrbom & Partner, Pahlfer played a crucial role in bringing this ambitious project to fruition. Tasked with infusing a modern aesthetic into the architectural landscape, Pahlfer, serving as Banker Wire's representative in Sweden, proposed a bespoke solution for the elevator walls. Harnessing the aesthetic appeal and practical versatility of Banker Wire's P-286 architectural woven wire mesh fabricated in bare brass, the team achieved the desired aesthetic seamlessly. This successful collaboration underscored the transformative power of innovative mesh materials in enhancing spaces, marrying functionality with contemporary design solutions.

The installation of luxurious brass wire mesh not only elevated the visual allure of the elevators but also demonstrated a commitment to incorporating modern decor solutions that align with the project's overarching vision. Rosenbad's renovation stands as a testament to the collaboration of different architectural periods and the transformative potential of design in shaping memorable experiences within architectural spaces.
