What makes a Community Center? Street Furniture and the People

For decades urban and suburban communities have been open about their excitement for accessible multi-purpose spaces where they can shop, chat, workout, or get a cup of coffee.

Gated communities need proper planning and design to build a community centre that provides for the residents’ needs entirely.

Several high-end developers and builders utilize community centres to promote sustainable living while giving their residents easily accessible facilities. And street furniture suppliers, naturally, play a vital role in the planning and longevity of such a concept.

What makes a Community Centre Successful?

Efficient, Flexible Design

Facilities that are composed to be versatile and adapt to the changing demands of a community can react to shifts in local economies with better long-term economic security. Investing in energy-efficient and sustainable design adds to long-term financial sustainability.

The demands of a gated community’s varied demographics and expected footfall need to be considered when planning a centre. Whether its outdoor park furniture or shopping options, a community centre needs to be curated to match the community’s tastes.

Accessible Location

Successful centres are designed to be social hubs; they are centrally positioned in the community and host a variety of events and programs and can be staffed by professionals. Residents visit the centres as much to socialize with other members, as much as to use the amenities housed within them. So, a park bench seat is as important an addition, as a swimming pool.

Community centres also benefit from energy-efficient design or improvements to keep operational costs low, and a street furniture supplier can help a centre change over time in response to the community’s needs.

The Benefits of Community Centers

A vibrant community centre can provide a stabilizing influence on the lives of the youth as well as the elderly. By giving safe and appropriately equipped spaces for physical exercises, including dance practices, martial arts, pilates, badminton, and other sports, a community centre can instil self-discipline, healthy exercise habits, and a sense of collaboration within the residents.

For the elderly, the community centres provide accessible spaces for socializing and being a part of the urban world while being sequestered in the safety of their gated community. Carefully positioned outdoor park furniture can give places to rest in-between walks at the community centre.

Community centres present the perfect backdrop for local mentorship programs, guiding the youth of the community. The role of community centres is very crucial for gated communities, where young parents need to provide a safe learning and social atmosphere for their children.

A streetscape curated for gated communities

One of our latest community centre projects was to aid the design and conception of the Mudon Community Center, owned and managed by Dubai Properties. Our procurement team went on to visit the centre and grasp the functional requirements of the space. Park bench seats, several bike racks, garbage bins, planters and every other streetscape requirement was provided for by Bluestream. Community Centre Furniture elements were crafted and installed in a way that ensured the furniture works well with the facade and the overall appearance of the centre.

The association paved the way for us to work closely with the architects to create a recreational fit-for-community-purpose space, capturing the residents’ priorities, requirements, and aspirations.
