City of Guérande: Safety of pedestrian streets
What facilities have been chosen to develop the old town centre?
Guérande is a small town in the Loire-Atlantique region of France with a population of approximately 16,000. It is located between the cities of Vannes and Nantes.
CONTEXT AND NEEDS OF THE CLIENT
The town of Guérande is strongly marked by the presence of its famous salt marshes but also by its ramparts which encircle its historic centre. It is to make its historic centre more pedestrian-friendly that the local authority called on BES' equipment.
SOLUTIONS
In order to respond to their problem, we recommended the installation of 4 hydraulic retractable bollards. This way, the town allows residents and tourists to move around and walk in peace by limiting the passage of vehicles.
The municipality then had two sites installed. For each of the accesses, there are two reinforced Citydro boost hydraulic retractable bollards, accompanied by a Sitaccess control totem.
To operate its access controls, the municipality opted for the following control methods:
- Time slots,
- Remote controls,
- Fire brigade controls.
SO HOW DOES ACCESS CONTROL WORK IN GUERANDE?
First of all, the two access controls work with time slots. In other words, the town of Guérande has programmed times when the bollards are kept in the upper position in order to prioritise access for pedestrians. On the other hand, it has also defined times when the bollards remain in the lower position in order to facilitate deliveries, for example. Guérande then decided to close both accesses:
At weekends, from Saturday 3pm to Monday 6am,
Monday to Friday from 11am to 8pm,
Wednesdays from 3pm to 8pm, these times may change depending on the time of year. The city has the possibility to modify them at its convenience.
Residents have a remote control to open the access when it is closed during the time slots. Finally, each totem pole is equipped with a fireman's access by unlocking a special lock. In the event of an emergency, the emergency services can unlock the bollards in order to free the access.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND INSTALLATIONS
The installation of the equipment was carried out by a competent company, which was the successful bidder in the tender launched by the community.
