Prestigious new awards for Snowsound at NeoCon 2019

Gold Award, Merit Prize and Grand Prize

The extraordinary results achieved from Caimi Brevetti’s research in the field of sound mitigation have been rewarded with a significant recognition in Chicago at the 2019 edition of NeoCon, the U.S. trade show dedicated exclusively to design for the contract industry, accredited as one of the world’s foremost events in terms of design engineering.

After the two Silver Awards obtained in 2017, Caimi was recognised with the GOLD AWARD for the superior degree of innovation and excellence it achieved with FLAT, the sound-absorbing panels designed by Alberto and Francesco Meda, well-known names in the field of architecture and design.

But there’s more: indeed, Flat won the Merit Prize, bestowed by Building Magazine, an authoritative American journal in the innovation segment.

The same journal also recognised BOTANICA, the lyrical sound-absorbing panels designed by Mario Trimarchi, another significant name in the area of design.

These honours bring the total to 35 international awards earned over the years by numerous Snowsound products, in a collection that has transformed the sound-mitigation segment by creating the perfect synthesis of aesthetics and function.

This achievement might well be described as epic, as it speaks to and underscores the commitment, determination, and passion that Caimi Brevetti has devoted to research and in development of cutting-edge solutions in sound design and acoustics, including in partnership with universities and research institutions.

Caimi Brevetti signifies experimentation into new materials and new industrial technologies, with an eye to better productivity as well as to achieving an ever-increasing, positive impact on the environment, thanks to its relentless research and innate interest in innovation.

FLAT, designed by Alberto and Francesco Meda

This line of sound-absorbing panels has a clear architectural hallmark, characterised by a clean and minimalist design. The front surface is flat, with a weightless appearance whose bulk resides in the rear. Two irregular shaped panels allow users to create any number of compositions, from pure geometric to the more unusual. With its hinged arm, FLAT can be angled as if it were a lightweight sheet of paper, to achieve a variety of highly sophisticated acoustic responses.

BOTANICA, designed by Mario Trimarchi

“When you stand under the leafy umbrella of a big tree, in the dappled sun and joyful play on light and shadow, it feels natural to stand in silent awe.

This idea of natural silence guided the design of BOTANICA, a new sound-absorbing collection for Caimi.”

This imagery inspired Mario Trimarchi to give shape to a new design that will become part of the collection of Snowsound sound-absorbing panels.

Botanica is comprised of metal structures that resemble a tree’s long sinuous branches and many soft fabric-covered leaves, delivering superior sound mitigation performance thanks to Caimi’s research achievements in sound design. Three install versions are available: wall, ceiling or free standing.

“The branches climb slowly and deliberately up the walls and extend horizontally, taking over the space of the ceiling. The space created is a visually soft and gentle interior that invites occupants to speak softly and bask in the rhythm of their heartbeats. As if standing under a tree.” (Mario Trimarchi, 2018)
