D & D LONDON owns and operates over 30 of the most famous restaurants in London, Leeds, Paris, Istanbul, New York and Tokyo. D & D LONDON has recently opened their penthouse bar and restaurant on the fifth floor of the Trinity Leeds shopping centre.

CANAL Architectural recently completed the metal spiral staircase internally joining the restaurant, Crafthouse, to the penthouse cocktail bar, Angelica. With a budget set by D & D LONDON, CANAL was able to value engineer the perfect staircase to suit the unique and glamorous surroundings that the restaurant offers.

The metal spiral staircase has a mild steel construction with a 10mm mild steel, helical plate balustrade that curves all the way through the floor into the Angelica cocktail bar creating a unique helical side bar for customers. With the staircase painted on site by others in a subtle black, the colour compliments the surrounding décor highlighting more important features in the bar and restaurant.

The metal staircase and balustrade is complimented by a mild steel handrail finished in grey and safety regulation tread finishes on the each step for the customers’ health and well being.

This particular staircase shows similarities to a previous project CANAL completed in Jersey but on a much bigger scale. On both projects CANAL worked closely with Milk Structures to produce these two fantastic architectural structures.
