The 2016 edition of the Casalgrande Padana Creative Book is included in the November issue of CASABELLA.
Creative Book is a Casalgrande Padana initiative which showcases the organisation’s commitment to issues surrounding architecture, design and technological research. The publication is supported by the Grand Prix international architecture competition, which was established by Casalgrande Padana in 1990 and is today considered one of the leading events in global ceramic design panorama.
The results of each edition of Grand Prix are presented in Creative Book, the last seven issues of which were produced in collaboration with CASABELLA.
Essentially designed to be a tool for industry professionals, the volume’s sophisticated graphic design provides ample food for thought in terms of the expressive and applicative potential of porcelain stoneware as well as its structural features and aesthetic characteristics. Creative Book also shines a light on the vast array of architectural projects that porcelain stoneware can elevate to the next level, leading to top-quality results, as shown by the works illustrated in the magazine.
The volume profiles the winning projects, taking the reader on a journey through the main categories, which include shopping malls, public buildings and administration centres, industrial buildings, residential buildings, wall covers and external flooring and swimming pools. Each project is illustrated with key images and a technical data sheet focusing on the materials used, the applicational methods chosen and the project surroundings. The works are accompanied by a short biography of the designers, who share their thoughts on the expressive value of ceramics and the architectural and technological benefits they bring to a project.
By focusing on these concrete examples, Creative Book aims to stimulate new research into and exploration of the use of ceramics in architecture, illustrating key case studies and recommending tools useful in turning a design idea into reality.
