A swimming pool in the landscape

The stoneware tiles in the Pietra Baugè collection by Casalgrande Padana, used for the outdoor flooring of a villa on the Catania plain.

The project, entrusted to the Cantone Ortoleva architecture firm with Giuseppe Motta, involved the construction of a swimming pool between a long-established palm grove and a garden of orange trees on the Catania plain. The palm grove leads through an Italian-style garden to the swimming pool, protected by a perimeter wall, while the door leads onto the surrounding farmland. The space designed thus links the memory of an ancient land worked by the local countryfolk with an architecture into which nature bursts exuberantly through the openings in the perimeter wall and is reflected on the surface of the water.

The clean, sharply defined lines of the appealing design engage in a continual, silent dialogue with the surrounding nature, coming close to revealing the mysterious beauty of Luis Barragan’s architectural rigour.

The 60x60 cm Pietra Baugè Bianco porcelain stoneware tiles, with their sensual, material tactile quality, are used from the paving to the inside of the swimming pool, blending smoothly with the surrounding nature, bringing on board the colours of the earth and slotting into the landscape as an integral part of it.

The superbly versatile tiles in the Pietra Baugè collection offer excellent load resistance, thanks to the 20 mm thickness for use outdoors.

Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware tiles are also non-absorbent, resistant to fire, frost, chemicals, humidity, salt, stains, wear and abrasion, as well as all kinds of external stress and weather conditions. They are also unaffected by mould and moss (thanks to the Bios Antibacterial® technology available on request) and are easy to lay and clean, making them suitable for both outdoor flooring and pool interiors.

Made exclusively from natural materials, free from plastic and harmful substances, Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware is completely recyclable, and is obtained through a closed-cycle production process in which complex anti-pollution systems allow for the complete recycling and recovery of all components, with substantially zero emissions and dispersion: 0% harmful emissions, 100% reduction in water impact, 99.5% of waste recovered, 74% self-produced energy and 100% eco-friendly packaging.
