Committed to the environment

Casalgrande Padana has always been environmentally conscious and committed to reducing its footprint. That’s why it uses the best technologies, commits to a circular economy, and implements certified process and environmental management policies.

As a result, Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware tiles are made through a closed-cycle manufacturing process where sophisticated antipollution equipment allows all the components to be recycled and reused with substantially zero emissions or dispersions: 0% harmful emissions, 100% environmental impact reduction, 99.5% waste recovered, 74% self-produced energy, and 100% environmentally sustainable packaging. This cutting-edge production process focuses on sustainability, scientific research, and the best environmental experiences. It also aims to reduce pollution as much as possible to protect the landscape and territorial balance. This commitment is demonstrated by Casalgrande Padana’s many certifications, including the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and ISO 14001 certifications, its Code of Ethics, which regulates the environmental policies related to its production cycle, and its environmental management system compliant with the EMAS Regulation to improve its environmental performance. Casalgrande Padana has also published an environmental statement validated by the certification body.

Bios Antibacterial®: maximum hygiene in your domestic spaces

Bios Antibacterial® is Casalgrande Padana’s exclusive silver-based treatment that helps eliminate 99% of bacteria from the tiles’ surfaces. This treatment is incorporated permanently into the porcelain stoneware tiles. Therefore, it’s always active whether there’s light or dark because it doesn’t need UV radiation to be activated. Bios Antibacterial® uses a technology based on silver ions, which removes bacteria and prevents their proliferation by inhibiting their metabolism. Laboratory tests have shown that Bios Antibacterial® can remove 99% of the four main bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). In addition, Bios Antibacterial® prevents mould, yeasts, and fungi. As a result, spaces are more salubrious and pleasing to the eye and nose. This treatment is embedded into the tiles before they are fired, becoming an integral part of them. Unlike other treatments applied once cold after the tiles are fired, Casalgrande Padana’s antibacterial treatment is wear-resistant and remains effective over time.

Bios Self-Cleaning®: the air-purifying porcelain stoneware tiles

As the name suggests, Casalgrande Padana’s Bios Self-Cleaning® tiles for façades and ventilated envelopes have self-cleaning properties. In addition, they reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, which are among the primary air pollutants. This way, Bios Self-Cleaning® helps improve the environmental quality of urban settings. To put things into perspective, using Bios Self-Cleaning® over a façade surface of 150 m2 purifies the air as much as a wooded area as big as a football pitch. It also eliminates the nitrogen oxides emitted by 11 cars in one day. Moreover, Bios Self-Cleaning® has all the excellent technical and aesthetic features of porcelain stoneware cladding, drastically reducing cleaning and maintenance. All this translates into significant savings while maintaining the quality and characteristics of the architecture.

Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware tiles are versatile and made solely with natural raw materials. Therefore, they are environmentally sustainable and fully recyclable. In addition, they are fire-resistant, non-allergenic and have high flexural strength. They also resist frost, abrasions, stains, weather agents, and temperature fluctuations. As a result, they never change over time. They are also easy to lay and clean.
