Stainless Steel at the Service of Bold Architecture

Located in Arles, the Luma Tower is a contemporary architectural masterpiece. Our company had the privilege of designing and manufacturing all the stainless steel blocks and panels that make up this monumental and shimmering facade.

1. The Architectural Vision & Approach
The architects' (Gehry Partners) ambition was to give the tower texture, relief, and movement, drawing inspiration from the local rock formations.

The aesthetic challenge: To create controlled deformations (precise patterns and designs) directly on the material to play with the reflections of the sun.

The choice of material: To work with stainless steel panels featuring a LINEN pattern finish (a textured appearance similar to canvas).

Our mission: To control the deformation of this textured stainless steel without altering its finish, in order to bring to life the complex designs envisioned by the architects.

2. From Concept to Reality: The Prototyping Phase
To validate technical feasibility and guarantee an impeccable visual result before large-scale production, our design office and workshops developed a rigorous prototyping protocol:

Creation of specific wooden supports: We manufactured several wooden display structures. These allowed us to position and present the stainless steel cassettes under real-world conditions to analyze the impact of light on the reliefs.

Faithful reproduction of the patterns: Using the files and designs provided by the architects, we produced several test cassettes. Each deformation was meticulously calibrated to precisely reproduce the desired design on the LINEN stainless steel.

Unique Industrial Expertise
Thanks to this experimental phase and our expertise in stainless steel processing, we were able to transform a bold architectural vision into an industrial and artistic reality. Each block manufactured in our workshops contributes today to the international renown of the Luma Tower.
