SCREWLINE3 FC: FREE OF CHARGE COOLING AT LOW OUTDOOR TEMPERATURES

SCREWLine3, the new generation of R134a chillers with double screw compressors, from 520 to 1550kW are now available in FREE-COOLING (both direct and indirect) version for applications which require cooled water during the cold season, such as industrial processes, data centres, telecommunications, technological applications and shopping centres.

When the outdoor ambient temperature is lower than the return water temperature of the system, the FREE-COOLING system utilises this variance and reduces compressor operation accordingly. In this way the requested cooling capacity is supplied at reducing cost relative to the temperature variance.

Even when the performance of a chiller at low ambient temperature is critical and free cooling can be used, for more than 70% of the time compressors are running to provide cooling capacity. SCREWLine3 adopts various technological solutions such as large heat exchange surfaces, resulting in high efficiency levels at full load, with external temperature over 30° C, and for applications in mild climates.

Two independent refrigeration circuits as standard, double screw compressors, variable flow fans, electronic expansion valve and high efficiency shell and tube evaporators contribute to give very high efficiency levels at part load operation with EER up to 3,1 (Eurovent certified).

SCREWLINE3 FC range is also equipped with innovative Axitop diffusers for thermodynamic recovery, which present great advantages in terms of sound levels with a reduction of 3dB(A) in sound pressure and results also in a reduction of 3% in energy absorbed by the fan.

The new range is available with two configurations:

- Direct FREE-COOLING: for applications where the system is with glycol

- FREE-COOLING NO Glycol: for applications where the system is without glycol (built-in uncoupling brazed plates heat exchanger)

SCREWLINE3 FC satisfies the Green Building Council requirements for LEED certification of the buildings.
