Interview with Antti Kotilainen the designer of AATOS chair (in Finnish)
The designer Antti Kotilainen is in furniture design and interior design, he established his design studio in 1997 in Helsinki.
He has been designing furniture ergonomically with great functionalities, and are influenced by traditional Scandinavian culture.
He has been working with furniture manufacturers from all over the world since 1993 and his design studio participated in countless furniture exhibitions internationally. His works have been widely used in offices, schools, and other public spaces in Europe, America, Australia, and Japan.
The name of the series AATOS stands for a noble idea in Finnish. “Only keep what is necessary'' is what Antti Kotlanien insists when designing AATOS. The design process started 4 years ago, Antti Kotlanien aimed to design a chair that is well balanced, comfortable, light and could be used in all kinds of scenarios. The structure of the chair was finalized after going through multiple tests and prototypes with CondeHouse’s wood crafting techniques. *Due to COVID-19 Antti Kotlanien was unable to visit the headquarters in Asahikawa ,Japan. The chair was completed through online meetings.
