San Colombano Suites

ARCH. LINO RAMA

Halfway between Venice and the gentle shores of Lake Garda, the San Colombano Suites complex is nestled among the hills adjacent to the town of Bardolino. The position of this welcoming hotel is perfect for admiring the characteristic landscape of the moraine hills, covered by vines, olive trees and neat rows of cypresses. The project by architect Lino Rama involved the extension of the skeleton of an old residential building, from which he created four new housing units. The end result is a dynamic structure, which harmoniously communicates with the surrounding environment. The external cladding was made with maxi Kerlite slabs in the Buxy Caramel version, which evokes the punctifrom graphic design and irregular tactility typical of quarry stone and lends itself to the building’s naturalistic contextualization.

The choice of the floor surfaces in the interior areas testifies to the design firm’s preference for environments with natural tones. The wood-effect slabs in the Cotto d’Este Cadore collection – in the special Baita version selected by the architect – thanks to their particularly tactile finish give the rooms a rustic, tactile and natural mood typical of unprocessed wood.

The 14 mm thickness was used for the interior, while the exterior and the veranda area in particular feature the 20 mm thickness, perfect for outdoor use thanks to its higher resistance to weathering and its notable non-slip properties.

Facing south-west with a picturesque view of Lake Garda, the hotel offers its guests a large swimming pool with a hot tub area.

Cotto d’Este was chosen by the designers to cover all the pool surfaces with the CLUNY collection, inspired by the typical minerals of Burgundy, in the Champagne Sable finish, which is characterized by a slight roughness, a non-reflective surface and a more rustic look, perfect for lending spaces a bold and elegant style thanks to its slightly textured aesthetic, which evokes all the allure of natural stone.
