Déco signs a sea-view terrace in Milazzo
Ultrashield® and Twix® composite wood claddings take center stage in a project where performance and architectural language seamlessly merge.
In Milazzo, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea with a view of the Aeolian Islands, a new residential project redefines the contemporary concept of outdoor living in harmony with the landscape. The protagonist of this intervention is Déco, whose Ultrashield® and Twix® solutions clad and define the large terrace, which was conceived as a material and stylistic extension of the home's interior.
Designed by interior designer Marco Trifiletti, the project revolves around this large terrace, envisioned as a true panoramic viewpoint. The flooring, shaped to evoke the bow of a ship projecting towards the sea, is made of Ultrashield® composite wood by Déco in a Teak finish with classic boards: a choice capable of combining aesthetic appeal with high technical performance.
The decking thus becomes both a structural and narrative element, shaping the space and guiding the gaze towards the horizon. Thanks to the innovative installation system, which manages the natural expansion and contraction of the boards, Ultrashield® guarantees stability even in the presence of complex geometries, maintaining an impeccable appearance over time.
Sections of the villa's exterior walls are instead clad in Twix® Classic by Déco—composite wood slatted-effect panels, also in the Teak colorway. This solution reinforces the dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces: inside, the material defines functional volumes intended for cabinetry; beyond the glass walls, it continues seamlessly, transforming into boiserie for the exterior surfaces. The result is a coherent language, capable of erasing the boundary between environments and creating material and visual continuity.
As designer Marco Trifiletti states: "The decision to use these two Déco solutions stemmed from specific needs, both technical and aesthetic. Twix® responds to the need for a versatile material suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, capable of creating volumetric and spatial continuity through the glass walls. Outdoors, it guarantees excellent resistance to weather conditions, while indoors, it offers a refined aesthetic yield and tactile sensation. Ultrashield®, on the other hand, defines the terminal portion of the outdoor flooring and wraps a stepped area designed as a genuine belvedere overlooking the sea and the Aeolian Islands."
At the core of both solutions is the Ultrashield® by Déco technology, a next-generation composite wood system protected by a special co-extruded polymeric shield, which guarantees:
Advanced resistance to stains, scratches, moisture, and salinity
Color stability over time thanks to UV ray protection
Zero maintenance required, even in extreme climatic contexts
Sustainability, thanks to the use of fully recycled and recyclable wood shavings and HDPE
The villa's location, just a few meters from the sea, demanded strict performance standards. In an environment characterized by strong solar radiation and the constant presence of salinity, Déco's technologies ensure anti-absorption claddings that require no maintenance and are guaranteed for up to 25 years from installation.
In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the use of Twix® on the facades contributes to improving the thermo-acoustic performance of the building envelope, reducing thermal bridges and promoting the absorption of reverberation thanks to its slatted structure.
With this project, Déco confirms its leadership in the sector, offering designers solutions capable of supporting ambitious architectural visions without compromising on aesthetics, innovation, and durability, even in challenging climatic contexts.
