The brand new Cruise Terminal in Lisbon

Nation Diasen is the protagonist of the new Lisbon Cruise Terminal

Diasen is the protagonist of the new Lisbon Cruise Terminal, thanks to its thermal, acoustic and dehumidification systems, applied on over 30,000 m2 of walls and ceilings. The project was signed by the famous Portuguese Architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça.

Our cork-based plaster Diathonite Evolution has been used to make the thermal insulation of the ceilings of the underground garages from the ground floor environments, which host stores and waiting rooms for passengers.

Diathonite Evolution was sprayed on concrete surfaces, previously primed with Aquabond. The plaster was applied with an average thickness of 3 cm and was reinforced with Polites 140 fiberglass mesh. Finally, it was smoothed with Argacem HP and then with Argacem Ultrafine, so that it has a completely smooth surface. The system was then coated with the Acrilid Protect Coating finish.

Diathonite Deumix, on the other hand, has been applied on the walls of the underground floors and the ground floor, to protect them from any kind of rising dampness: the building, in fact, faces the Tejo River that flows into the Atlantic Ocean, and is therefore very subject to the action of rising dampness.

Diathonite Acoustix has been used to eliminate reverberation problems in passenger transit areas and commercial areas, and to make acoustic insulation in technical and control rooms and safety rooms where machineries are present. Diathonite Acoustix has been applied with thickness ranging from 3 to 5 cm using plastering machine.

The building is in competition for many international architecture awards: it literally changes the landscape of the Portuguese capital and is the new gateway to the city for millions of tourists who arrive to Lisbon via cruise ships.
