Citypoint, London

Effisus Project

Originally known as Britannic House or Britannic Tower, was the former headquarters of the oil company British Petroleum, with 35 floors and 122m. Its structure began to be “outdated” with the passing of the years, while home prices in the area began a rapid ascent. In the early 90’s the oil moved to its former headquarters in Finsbury Circus.

The building is London´s largest commercial office building in terms of rentable floorspace, and was even one of the tallest building, of the city until 2002 when St Mary Axe was built, with 179.8m. The original design proposed by Santiago Calatrava included an enormous fin on top of the building that would have taken the height to 203m (666ft), but this plan was rejected because of fears it would spoil views of St. Paul’s Cathedral.

In order to protect the façade elements against moisture, driving rain and wind avoiding corrosion, insulation deterioration and mould growth, Effisus Breather FR System was applied.
