Emboss for Casa Batlló – Living Material Between Past and Future
BUMPS by EMBOSS
Inside the iconic Casa Batlló, the project led by Acierta features a sculpted Emboss surface that transforms the space without altering its soul or overpowering Gaudí’s unmistakable architecture. The BUMPS pattern, with its glossy finish and soft three-dimensional geometry, creates a refined play of light and reflections that dialogues with the building’s organic forms, reinterpreting them in a contemporary key. This formal language does not imitate but listens and responds: the sculpted metal gently integrates with the historic volumes, respecting their lines, rhythm, and proportions.
Emboss’s installation is part of the exhibition project “The Heritage of Tomorrow” at Casa Batlló, an initiative inviting artists and designers to project Gaudí’s legacy into the future through innovative commissions. The BUMPS pattern transforms the metal surface into a sensory element that honors the exhibition’s theme “Preserving the Past, Challenging the Present, Curating the Future.” Going beyond mere cladding, it redefines spatial perception by blending design, technology, and heritage into an immersive experience that explores the boundary between nature and machine, traditional architecture and digital innovation—creating an environment where the organic and synthetic coexist harmoniously and open new paths for the future of architecture.
