Museo Soumaya
New Project
The Museo Soumaya art museum is located in the historical industrial zone of Mexico City. The art presented there is a private collection belonging to Carlos Slim – a Mexican businessman. The exhibit is made up of more than 6,000 works of art distributed throughout an area of 17,000 m2. The museum was named after the businessman’s deceased wife. The building has a very interesting, modern shape. It is similar to Rodin sculptures. It consists of 46,000 hexagonal aluminum tiles with indistinguishable doors and windows. There is a special skylight in the roof, which lets daylight in. Special blinds were installed under the skylight to break up the sun’s rays, so that the works of art are not exposed to harmful UV radiation. The skylight’s impressive design has been emphasized by a unique arrangement of COSMO luminaires. The light they emit is completely safe for the exhibits and perfectly captures the colors of the artwork.
