PETRA en Plaza del Agua - El Prat del Llobregat - BCN.

The set of three buildings at the western end of the Calle Llobregat axis configures the new public space in the water plaza. The colonnade and two lines of stakes geometrize the hall-water plaza. Rows of trees, used in conjunction with the rotunda, act as a sort of hinge between the urban development of Calle Río Llobregat and this new agora.

These differently sized stakes embraced by colourful creepers, the diversity of natural light on the faces of the colonnade, and the vibrating shadows that they cast all cause a mutating effect that contrasts with the hieratism of the "Aigues" building. At night, the illuminated water stylobate is like a huge skylight, giving the colonnade on the main facade a powerful expressive image.

In the heart of this space, four pre-existing trees colonize the hall. At the same time, slender lines of artificial lights are stretched between of majestic white steel columns, creating a minimalist night sky-like fabric that forms an ethereal canopy above the agora and gives Calle Río Llobregat a sense of continuity.

To create this luminous sky, the architect has chosen Escofet''s PETRA lamps from the DAE collection, suspending them from taut cables.
