Large panels installed with Fastmount into university building

PC-VMX & PC-F1A used in conjunction with PanelSafes

The University of Auckland has nearly completed the multi-million dollar build of their new Science Centre, set to open in September 2016.

The new 10,000m2 building is eleven stories high, and features flexible education spaces surrounding a large atrium.

Architectus, a large architectural design studio with studios in New Zealand and Australia, created the innovative and functional building. The stained veneer panels were supplied by Decortech.

Two types of Decortech panels were mounted using the Fastmount Standard Range, and the Panel Control Range, installed by Renovo Construction Ltd.

To mount the large vertical red veneer panels covering three flights of stairs, the Fastmount PC-VM1 was used in conjunction with the PC-F1A for its high shear strength and variable gap. Two PanelSafe Easy Fits were used for each of the large panels, for added panel safety.

The white panels scaling the atrium of the building were attached in the same manner, utilizing the high shear strength of the PC-VM1 to successfully mount the large panels.
