Fastmount nominated for DAME - Design Award

TC-F6H from Textile Range recognised

Fastmount’s new TC-F6H from the Textile Range has been nominated for the DAME Design Award 2018 in the interior equipment, furnishings, materials and other electrical fittings category.

The DAME – Design Award is the most recognized international design competition that distinguishes innovative new concepts and designs in the global marine industry. The jury looks for excellence in design and innovation, which sets the pace for the next generation of product development.

As the leader in panel mounting systems, Fastmount® found that bigger may not always be better, but stronger certainly is with their release of the new TC-F6H for upholstery. Having released the Textile Range two years ago to the marine market, Fastmount responded to customer feedback by designing and manufacturing their strongest upholstery fixing available – the TC-F6H.

Replacing previous attachment methods such as hook and loop tape, the sew-on female clip has been designed to blend into its environment as much as possible. Made up of a UV stable copolymer white housing and translucent slide-lock, the clip is resistant to the usual attackers of cushion fastenings such as heat, sun and rust.

Cushion loading was the key priority in the design process, resulting in a 23kg break out load per clip, whilst maintaining effortless removal and replacement for the yacht crew, to reduce time spent on placing cushions.

Its intuitive slide-lock mechanism allows cushions to be physically ‘locked’ into position by simply sliding the slide lock into its housing. This action locks the TC-F6H onto the male clip, giving a mechanical connection between the cushion and the deck. The slide lock is then pulled towards the edge of the cushion to release the connection and remove the cushion swiftly.

Ridges in the clip allow for automated parallel sewing to save cushion production time, and the slide lock mechanism means a removal tool is not required, resulting in quick cushion construction for the upholsterer, and quick fitting for the end user.

The TC-F6H will be displayed in the I-nnovationLAB in Hall 6 at METSTRADE from November 13-15, and can also be viewed at the Fastmount stand 02.224. DAME – Design Award winners will be announced at the METSTRADE Breakfast Briefing and DAME Award Ceremony on Tuesday 13 November at 9am.
