Fastmount® strengthens Stratlock® Range with Fire-Rated Series

New Zealand-based manufacturer of hidden panel fasteners, Fastmount has strengthened its Stratlock Range with the new fire-rated series, made with materials compliant with interior fire-rating requirements.

The Stratlock Range was developed as a heavy-duty hidden panel mounting solution for installing large interior panels onto aluminium extrusion framework. A purpose-built system, the Stratlock Range is the only product on the market that provides versatility in modular design and adjustable panel installation, thanks to its patent pending dual locking function.

The screw-fix male (SL-M18-FR) features a double-detent shank which locks into the load chassis of the rapid-fit female (SL-FA-FR, SL-SFA-FR or SL-FB-FR) in the aluminium frame. Upon the first click, the panel is supported, with a 4mm adjustable tolerance in any direction to find the correct panel position. The second click then locks the panel into position, secured with an 18kg pull out load per clip set, making the system ideal for heavy decorative panels.

The Fire Rated Series maintains the patented design of the three female clips and one male clip, but is manufactured with materials which conform to UL94, an internationally recognized standard for fire-rated materials. All clips in the Fire Rated Series are V-0 rated, the highest rating available for fire-rated materials.

The Series provides a solution for two trends – increased public building sizes (hotels, hospitals, universities) requiring fire-retardant materials and the requirement for more streamlined construction processes as a result of the large-scale projects. Professional interior fitout company, Volutique, based in Rennes, France recently chose the new Stratlock Fire-Rated Series to mount 900 decorative panels in 2500m2 of public space in 7 stations of the Rennes subway.

With the assistance of Fastmount agent in France, Domarine and their sub-distributor Foussier, the project was able to meet public building fire standards by using 18,000 pairs of SL-FB-FR and SL-M18-FR clips on the chipboard and stainless-steel covered panels, with some of the largest measuring 2440mm tall by 1140mm wide, and weighing up to 80kg each.

The SL-M18-FR was simply screwed to the 16mm thick panel and mounted into the SL-FB-FR which was clipped into a horizontal steel framework on the wall. The result was a substantial saving in installation time, and a superior finish on the removable panels, which can be removed and refitted easily for maintenance of services (access to cables and plumbing).

Clips available in the Stratlock Range Fire Rated Series are the female SL-FA-FR, SL-SFA-FR, SL-FB-FR and the male SL-M18-FR, and all Underwriter Laboratory fire-rating tests are available on the Fastmount website. The series is available now from Authorised Distributors worldwide.
