Figueras Seating for the UNO General Assembly in New York

The company Figueras International Seating begins one of its most international years with the execution of different high-prestige projects, such as the equipping of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York. This project was won through a demanding public tender by their subsidiary Figueras USA, and includes over 1000 seats for different halls at the UNO headquarters.

Specifically, Figueras will provide seating for the halls of the General Assembly and four adjacent conference halls which are currently being refurbished. For this project, it was vital to present a folding seat of reduced size which met the stringent UNO safety regulations.

The prestige of the company, together with its experience in applied engineering solutions, was key to it winning the tender. In addition, Figueras was the supplier of seating for the XX Hall of the UNO in Geneva, in addition to the seating in the press room at the White House, references which added to the prestige of their bid. The refurbishment work for the General Assembly hall began in 2012 and is set to be finished in the autumn.

International prestige projects

This is not the only major project that Figueras is undertaking this year. In 2014, Figueras will also equip the Hanoi Parliament in Vietnam, with 1000 high technological performance seats; the Nigeria National Stadium, with a capacity of 40,000 people, or the Salomón Temple in Sao Paulo, which will include an auditorium with 10,000 seats in a church located in the centre of the city.

In addition, Figueras recently signed a contract with the company Odeon, the largest cinema chain in the United Kingdom and Ireland, which will see their cinema screens equipped with 35,000 Figueras seats in the next five years. The agreement is for both remodelling projects in their current cinemas and for new cinema constructions.
