Home Battery Enclosures: Sheet Metal, Plastic or SuperVIG® Printed Glass Panel?
Home Batteries Are Becoming Part of the Furniture
Q1: Is glass too fragile for a battery enclosure?
A: No. The substrate is toughened glass compliant with GB 15763.2 — the same safety standard used in car side windows and shower doors. It is 4–5× stronger than annealed glass and, if broken, forms small granules without sharp edges. Plastic dents and cracks under impact; toughened glass holds its shape.
Q2: How is the colour applied? Can it peel or fade?
A: Two routes are available. Low-temperature screen printing applies ink to the surface (prototyping, small batches). High-temperature ceramic printing fires ceramic enamel into the glass at 600–700°C during toughening — the colour becomes part of the substrate itself and physically cannot peel or fade.
