Pablo Erroz and Gayafores introduce at MBFW 2022 an exclusive collection of porcelain tiles

The designer will show Contrast Cobalto pieces, made with prints from his multidisciplinary proposal, on the great fashion catwalk

Fashion and ceramics once again walk hand in hand on one of the most prestigious catwalks in the world. After the success of 2021, Gayafores and Pablo Erroz renew their collaboration on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (MBFW), and they will do so in a crucial moment, as the catwalk celebrates its 75th anniversary, coinciding with the celebration of the first 10 years of life of the Mallorcan designer's brand. In addition, Gayafores celebrates 125 years since its founding as a manufacturer of ceramic products, so the numbers have spoken and there are plenty of reasons to predict that the 2022 edition will be a memorable one.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid returns to the Spanish capital from 9 to 13 March with 100% capacity, while maintaining the corresponding security measures. On this occasion, the collaboration between Gayafores and Pablo Erroz is materialised with a collection of porcelain floor and wall tiles made with digital material and with 12 different designs. Contrast Cobalto, the name with which the project has been baptised, integrates perfectly into the multidisciplinary vision of the designer and into the evolution of Welcome to our brand universe: Non-Seasonal 22.23, which, in the words of the creative director, "seeks to highlight everything that lies behind our production chains, how we show ourselves to the world and what we have become", focusing on real proposals "without leaving aside experimentation and the DNA of what we are: dreamers = doers". In this way, Contrast Cobalto brings to ceramics a diverse and multifaceted way of understanding fashion, complementing it with "a balanced colour palette, sober yet timeless, but without losing an iota of innovation in terms of mixing contrasts, colours and innovative combinations".

Real sustainability

The Gayafores & Pablo Erroz synergy revolves around the concept of "real sustainability". This can be seen on 10 March, at 5.30 p.m., at MBFW 2022, with a live and interactive show, in which the public will be an essential part. With the aim of creating a multidisciplinary brand universe in which the link is key and with the idea of continuing to grow with its interior design and home line, Pablo Erroz will install a set of pieces from the Contrast Cobalt Collection on the catwalk. These porcelain tiles with genuine prints designed expressly by Pablo Erroz for Gayafores respond to the philosophy of using 100% natural materials that are compatible with the precepts of the circular economy. In this sense, it is worth remembering that the basis of ceramic products are precisely earth, water (or clay) and fire, 100% recyclable and reusable.

In recent years, the Spanish tile industry has made significant efforts and investments to reduce its production emissions, reduce water and resource consumption and become more energy efficient. Moreover, it is a sector that can recover almost 100% of the waste generated in its production process and that promotes zero landfill. And this commitment to sustainability is not only reflected in the processes but also in the products, since, beyond the decorative aspect, construction solutions are offered for a more sustainable building (radiant heating systems, ventilated façades, etc.). In addition to all this, due to its performance and resistance, ceramics have a longer useful life and its durability is much higher than in the case of other materials, so that, additionally, it contributes to reducing the carbon footprint.

For all these reasons, and in view of the values shared by both brands, the alliance between Pablo Erroz and Gayafores takes another step forward with a new collaboration in which Contrast Cobalto is the undisputed protagonist. It is a surface coating product in which the ceramic essence that has characterised Gayafores since its origins in 1897 is very present.

The fashion-ceramics binomial now strengthens its ties a little more. In this sense, it is worth remembering that the relationship between the Mallorcan designer and Gayafores began last year with the ephemeral installation of a hundred pieces from the Colección Canyon on the MBFW 2021 catwalk.
