The Castle of Rocca Cilento

An ancient tale for a castle that is one of the largest in Italy. This is Rocca Cilento Castle, a hamlet of the municipality of Lustra, which once belonged to the Sanseverino family. In 2016, the property was acquired by entrepreneur Stefano Sgueglia, and after significant restoration work, it was returned to tourists and travelers along the ancient route between Paestum and Velia.

Since 1119, when it was incorporated into the fortified walls of the Sanseverino Castle, although documents attest to its existence even earlier, around 963 and 994, the various owners, over time, have changed and adapted the use and purpose of this historic residence. In 2010, it definitively passed into the hands of the Sgueglia family, who were already the owners of Limatola Castle in the province of Benevento. They embarked on a powerful project of revitalization and rebirth.
