Glowbus, taking the world by storm

Fire sculpture… you mean fire pit?

For Andreas Ketels, a Belgian designer and founder of Glowbus, fire has always played a big part in his life. Even as a young boy he has the most vivid memories of childhood sitting around a crackling fire. Sitting around a fire is pure wellness. And it’s easy to implement in our busy schedules. This explains the booming trend we are witnessing today as we all rediscover the moment around a fire at the end of our day. Wanting to share and reinvent this experience with the world, Andreas started designing what would eventually become the Glowbus Dewdrop fire sculpture.

In just 6 month after it’s international launch, Glowbus has rolled out an exclusive dealership network in no less then 25 countries. All Glowbus products are handcrafted in Belgium and uniquely signed and numbered. Built in high quality Corten steel, they last a lifetime. And more.

Fire sculpture… you mean fire pit?

Yes, and no. Most firepits are merely functional objects. The unique Dewdrop fire sculpture is an eyecatcher during the day and a source of cosines in the evening. The Dewdrop fire sculpture is in essence a sculpture. A handmade piece of art which immediately grabs the attention because of it’s unique shape. It’s fluent lines give the Dewdrop an organic look which makes it elegant, timeless and perfectly suitable for many architectural styles. It looks amazing next to a modern minimalistic villa and 17th century manor alike. This is a key part of the enormous success of the Dewdrop.

In the evenings, the Dewdrop’s sculptural shape enriches the play of light to a unique atmosphere around the fire. The slats on the side of the Dewdrop interrupt the light in vertical lines so it immediately gives a very unique flavor to the surrounding area. It is more distinctive and therefore it engages the people when they sit in the direct area of the fire.

5 year strategy in 6 months…

When Glowbus launched in Belgium (2019) it was immediately welcomed by the top-end clients from allover the country. Andreas, with little to no marketing efforts behind the brand, sold over 4x the units he was planning to sell that year, in only a few months. Demand drastically exceeding the expectations of the artist, this hinted the huge potential of the Dewdrop design.

The company started preparing an international launch, which took place on November 1th, 2020. The initial idea was to start working with exclusive dealerships and design showrooms in Belgium and make this the goal for the first year after the launch. In the following two years, the brand would focus on the neighboring countries and then move further into the European market. In little over 3 weeks almost all of the exclusive positions in Belgium were filled and the brand managed to start partnerships with key players in the outdoor luxury market. Immediately after that first month, Glowbus started looking to new markets. Essentially, the international focus was built into the company from day one. It just happened a lot sooner then anticipated. Only 6 months later, Glowbus managed to roll out a distribution network with over 70 importers & dealerships in no less than 25 countries. Glowbus is still listing new partnerships, almost on a weekly basis. The ultimate ambition is to make the beautiful products of Glowbus available to all countries in the world and share this uniquely re-imagined moments around elemental fire.
