Kaido Sushi Bar
Japanese restaurant, Valencia, Spain
Kaido Sushi Bar, by Ulises Menezo and Yoshikazu Yanome, is the first purely Japanese bar located in Valencia. It has been awarded a Michelin Star (the only Japanese restaurant with a Michelin Star in the entire region) and a Repsol Guide Sun.
Designed entirely by Mikiya Kobayashi, a Japanese designer based in Tokyo and Valencia, his aim was to depict the cultural atmosphere and interplay of light that he experienced in Valencia, with objects specifically designed for the interiors of the sushi bar, such as the wooden chairs or the Sun ceiling lights.
From the moment diners step through the door, they can sense the exclusivity of the restaurant, which welcomes a maximum of 10 diners every night. An intimate, minimalist and modern space thanks to the selection of large-format 1200x2600 mm Coverlam slabs. Inspired by the black-coloured natural stone Blue Stone, these tiles cover all the floors and walls and draw attention to the bar, where all the action takes place.
Mikiya opted for Coverlam Top Basic in white to make the worktop. This is an innovative product manufactured by Grespania with natural raw materials, which offers mechanical and hygienic properties superior to those of any conventional tiling material. This material is perfect for work areas thanks to its exceptional hardness, preventing scratches and wear, and allowing the user to cut directly on its surface.
It can also meet the most exacting needs because it is resistant to heat and fire. In addition, thanks to its low porosity it is also resistant to stains, providing a hygienic antibacterial surface ideal for food handing.
