The European Football Championship 2016 will start June 10th in France. In addition to eight other venues the Stade Pierre-Mauroy is one of them. Opened in 2012 and named after the former mayor of the city, the multipurpose stadium “Stade Pierre-Mauroy” is located in Villeneuve d´Ascq, southeast of the metropolitan region Lille. Primarily, the Stade Pierre Mauroy is the stadium of the football club OSC Lille with a capacity of 50.000 spectators. Within 24 hours, the stadium can be turned into a versatile arena for concerts, cultural and indoor sports events.

Six games of the UEFA Euro 2016 will take place at Stade Pierre-Mauroy: four group matches, one round of sixteen and one quarter-final. Germany will also play in Stade Pierre-Mauroy the preliminary round against Ukraine.
