Fully integrated Homematic IP camera family now available

The new Homematic IP security cameras are part of a comprehensive smart home ecosystem. With just one app, users have all the features at their fingertips and can keep an eye on their smart home at all times. Consistent data protection and secure encryption ensure complete peace of mind.

German smart home manufacturer eQ-3 is rounding out its comprehensive alarm solution with the Homematic IP security cameras. The wide-ranging product portfolio, which offers protection against burglary, fire and water damage, is now supplemented by the option of smart video surveillance. With six different cameras, there’s a model to suit every installation scenario—from indoor and outdoor areas to the front door.

A solution for the entire building
As genuine Homematic IP devices, the cameras are fully integrated into the existing Homematic IP ecosystem. For the user, this means they only need one free app to control their entire smart home. The redesigned alarm system interface consolidates all security-related devices, events, and status information from the smart home into a single, centralized overview.

If a Homematic IP device triggers an alarm, such as a motion or smoke detector, a quick glance at the app is all it takes to respond. Thanks to microphones and speakers integrated into the cameras, users can make themselves heard directly—to shoo the dog off the sofa, speak to the mail carrier, or deter a burglar.

Depending on the application, the respective camera models feature special capabilities such as AI-powered motion, person, and sound detection; pan and tilt; automatic motion tracking; integrated outdoor lighting; or battery operation. Additional features will be added via future, free updates. These include configurable alarm zones, the simultaneous display of multiple live camera feeds, centralized management of alarm notifications, and more. All camera features, including cloud storage for video recordings, are available to users at no additional cost.

Data Protection as a Core Principle
As one of the leading technology providers in the European smart home market, eQ-3 understands the importance of protecting sensitive personal data. This is especially true in the field of video surveillance.

“When developing our Homematic IP smart home system, IT security and data protection were our top priorities right from the start. It was therefore only natural to us that this standard should also apply to the new Homematic IP security cameras. Users should be able to decide for themselves what happens to their data – simply, transparently and securely.”

Team Lead, Product Management at eQ-3

Video data protection is an integral part of the product concept for Homematic IP security cameras. Users decide for themselves whether recordings are stored locally on a microSD card or whether event recordings are stored in encrypted form on servers in Germany. As is customary with Homematic IP, no registration is required to use the cameras.

The fact that data protection and IT security are more than just empty promises at Homematic IP is confirmed by the independent VDE certification of the entire smart home system for protocol, IT, and data security. This certification also applies to the new security cameras and attests to compliance with the highest security standards for protecting communications, IT infrastructure, and sensitive user data.

Available Now
The new Homematic IP camera family is now available. The Outdoor Camera, the Outdoor Light Camera, and the Video Doorbell are each available in a white design and, from early September, also in an anthracite design.
