Interface publishes its environmental, social and governance (ESG) report for 2021.

Interface, Inc. (NASDAQ: TILE), a global leader in modular professional flooring and a pioneer in sustainability, today released its 2021 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, Design With Purpose. This details the company's efforts to reduce its environmental impact, cultivate social responsibility and operate with strong governance that benefits all stakeholders: employees, customers, shareholders and the environment.

“Driven by the vision of our founder, Ray Anderson, Interface has been pioneering sustainability for nearly three decades,” said Laurel Hurd, CEO of Interface. “Our 2021 ESG Report highlights the important milestones we have achieved and the progress we continue to make as an organization. We have reduced our environmental impact, made progress on our DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) initiatives, and implemented global strategies to support employee health and wellbeing. We have also influenced other companies to build organizations aimed at having a positive impact on employees, their communities and the environment. »

Interface's 2021 ESG Report highlights many notable achievements for the company, including:

the validation of its 2030 greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets, scientifically recognized by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) - an important step in its mission to become a negative carbon footprint company by 2040;

continuing to offer collectively carbon-neutral products globally throughout their life cycle through the third-party verified Carbon Neutral Floors™ program - removing 442,000 metric tons of emission reduction units verified in 2021;

building a DEI framework – investing in best-in-class tools and platforms to improve data visibility;

the launch of a global survey on company culture and DEI criteria to gather employee opinions;

implementing workplace strategies to support employee health and well-being globally

The 2021 ESG report also provides transparency on the company's global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, carbon footprint by product type, use of recycled and bio-based materials, use of and high-level employee demographics using traditional disclosures and following a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) approach.

“The progress we made in 2021 has laid the foundation for lasting success and momentum in 2022,” continues Hurd. “This would not have been possible without the global Interface team who remain at the center of everything we do. With this solid foundation in place, we look forward to working alongside our customers, partners, suppliers and employees, and continuing our progress towards greater respect for the environment. »
