Cost-efficient passive house construction with multi-functional wood-concrete double walls

Functionality and efficiency are becoming increasingly important in the construction of buildings. Isospan wood concrete is a natural building material and plays a leading role in this field. This advanced building material not only provides noise protection, heat storage, sound insulation and vapour diffusion, but is also fire resistant and earthquake-proof.

Cost-efficiency through multi-functionality

One single building component fulfils several statutory requirements for residential and industrial buildings. However, multifunctionality is not limited to compliance with legal requirements. The prefabricated wall modules can be installed easily and quickly at the building site, regardless of the weather conditions. As a result, construction schedules can be met and so allow builders to save time and money. isospan enhances cost-efficiency, living quality and durability, in particular in large residential construction projects. The field of application ranges from simple single-family homes to multi-storey residential buildings and industrial construction.

The wood-concrete double walls fulfil all required thermal and sound insulation functions. Conventional concrete and brick walls must be insulated and finished to meet statutory values for sound and thermal insulation. This means valuable working time and expensive materials. Isospan blocks, however, have a sound reduction index of up to 61 dB. Brick walls with the same wall thickness cannot meet the sound level difference of 55 dB between the rooms of living units, which is required in accordance with ÖNORM standards. The same applies to the minimum standards for heat protection. For example, it is necessary to apply a heat insulation composite system to exterior walls made of prefabricated heavy concrete parts due to their lack of thermal insulation capabilty.
