A tiled walk-in shower in record time
Creating an entire bathroom, in a current style, with easy, quick implementation and guaranteeing absolute waterproofing, has been made possible with the JACKOBOARD ® concept from Jackon Insulation. Procedures.
The problem
The owner of a house in Lille wanted to transform a bedroom into a modern bathroom. In this project with a surface area of 7.5 m 2 , he wanted to install a walk-in shower, a bathtub, a washbasin, a suspended toilet and a storage unit. The tray had to be very thin, to create a modern shower without steps and perfect accessibility. The whole thing had to be completed in a maximum of one month, as part of the complete renovation of the 110 m 2 house .
The construction process
This is the JACKOBOARD ® panel construction process.which was used for the entire bathroom. The partition between the shower and the toilets, the dressing of the bathtub and the washbasin, were therefore made with these panels in extruded polystyrene (XPS), which are very light and water-repellent in order to ensure the sealing of the shower, the floor and walls. Before tiling, and to prevent water from seeping in, all joints are covered with a Jackoboard sealing strip. The floor (formerly parquet) has also been reinforced with 1 cm thick JACKOBOARD ® construction panels . The finish is planned with anthracite natural stone tiling.
For the wall-hung toilet, it's the JACKOBOARD Sabo mounting kitwho was chosen. It makes it possible to quickly and simply dress all the support frames. The special element consisting of 2 panels made of rigid extruded polystyrene foam 2 cm thick is pre-cut so that it is suitable for all common toilet connections. It is extremely resistant to compression and can be tiled directly and quickly thanks to the special coating on both sides.
The benefits of the shower tray
