The Waterschei Arcade (Belgium)

The former Waterschei coal mine has been turned into a commercial and scientific centre that is a showcase for innovation.

In 2015 and 2016, the main building was renovated and renamed Thor Central, the site’s key business centre. This renovation successfully combined the historical

industrial heritage of the site with a forwardlooking vision focusing on technology and ecology.

The vaulted first-floor roof was transformed into a shaft of light thanks to the inclusion of glass blocks made by La Rochère in collaboration with architects

SATIJNplus and ELD Mijnsite Waterschei THV and Verhaert.
