THE EXTRAORDINARY LAMINAM SLAB FOR THE WORLD OF HOTELS

Laminam@EquipHotel

From 6 to 10 November, LAMINAM specialising in the production of large-size, minimum-thickness ceramic surfaces for both indoor and outdoor use, will be taking part in Equip’Hotel, which for over 50 years has been the international benchmark event for the hospitality sector.

Synonymous with excellence and innovation worldwide, at this event the Italian brand will be seeking to recreate a conceptual hotel room in its exhibition space, complete with external and internal wall coverings and flooring, as well as furnishings, with each element designed to illustrate the endless possible applications of ceramic material in the hotel environment and to offer new design solutions for architects, interior designers and furnishing experts.

Extremely flat, lightweight and weather resistant, LAMINAM ceramic surfaces offer a multitude of applications in both the world of architecture – as ventilated facades and wall and floor coverings – and in the furnishing and design sector, as horizontal table, kitchen and bathroom tops.

There are numerous collections designed to illustrate the creative energy and the sophisticated expression LAMINAM offers through the two surfaces produced, 1000x3000mm and 1620x3240x12mm.

Chosen for the internal wall coverings of the conceptual room, the Kotan slabs in the colour Grey are inspired by the matt surfaces of raw cement. The material textures strike a perfect balance between the essential nature of Japanese culture and the craftsmanship techniques for macerating washi paper, giving the surface a calm, pure appearance.

Co-branded with the Japanese giant TOTO, the Kotan slab is characterised by the Hydrotect® photocatalytic, self-cleaning and air-purifying treatment.

As a result of these properties, the surfaces are ideal in outdoor settings, where they react to the action of ultraviolet rays by breaking down any organic substances and neutralising the nitrogen oxides (NoX) with a cleaning effect, but the treatment also guarantees excellent performance and advantages in terms of hygiene when used indoors, because it requires no maintenance and can easily be cleaned using just water.

To create an effect of visual continuity, the flooring, as well as part of the wall covering, is formed by a carpet of strikingly fluid, textured slabs from the I Naturali collection, in the Pietra di Savoia Antracite finish, while the solution selected for the shower features the elegant veining effects of the I Naturali Marmi series, in the Bianco Statuario Venato Lucidato finish. Both featured in the 5mm thick 1000x3000mm size, they are reminiscent of the technical and aesthetic characteristics of the materials they are inspired by.

Maintaining the same neutral shades, all the horizontal surfaces feature the 12 mm thick 1620x3240mm size tiles, in the Calce Antracite finish for the bed and Calce Grigio for all the other horizontal surfaces.

Lastly, the external wall of the conceptual room embellishes the presentation with a technological effect with a futuristic impact: the facade is covered with Laminam Star Maker slabs, designed by the Polish architect Mac Stopa who will be present at the event; the slabs recently received the Red Dot: Best of the Best award in the Product Design 2016 category. The hallmark of the Star Maker slabs is a geometric pattern featuring small pentagon-shaped pieces, a graphic structure that makes it possible to create endless layouts by turning the slab by 90° to form a series of different combinations and thus forming a sort of three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle, a mosaic of small elements that can be applied both indoors and on the outside of buildings.
