Hard Rock Hotel Madrid

Artful lighting

This is the first urban Hard Rock Hotel in Spain. Inaugurated last July, near the bustling Atocha station (the first in the capital), it is located in a building constructed in the 1960s that once housed the municipal offices and which has now been completely redeveloped. The result is an exclusive, modern and contemporary hotel in perfect Hard Rock style, dedicated to a business clientèle but also to tourists travelling to explore the capital. Guests can enjoy an outdoor swimming pool, a rooftop with bars and restaurants from which to savour a 360° panoramic view, a gym and, finally, 161 rooms and suites with views over the lights of Madrid or the more private internal garden. All in the name of Madrid’s new way of life.

At the heart of the famous "Golden Triangle of Art" – with the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Buen Retiro Park all within walking distance – the Hard Rock Hotel in Madrid was built in conjunction with the expansion of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, located opposite at just 200 metres away. In the eyes of those who stay in this hotel, it looks like a concentrate of art and iconic pieces of national and international music, with over 70 pieces of memorabilia including an acoustic guitar that once belonged to the Madrid singer-songwriter Antonio Vega, the blue denim suit worn by Elvis Presley during a television special on NBC in 1968 and even a pair of platform boots worn by David Bowie. Likewise, the rooms feature many references to the world of music and art, all skilfully showcased thanks to a lighting project created by the BMLD studio in collaboration with the Linea Light Group.

Vos_RJ is a high-end downlight chosen by the lighting design studio in collaboration with the Linea Light Group team to illuminate all rooms in the hotel. Adjustable for recessed installation, the product (with a total of 1283 pieces used) is characterised by its minimalist design, rendering it suitable for any type of environment. To prevent any glare effect, a honeycomb filter and the colour temperature of 2700 degrees Kelvin have made it possible to achieve soft yet diffused lighting, able to emphasise the walls and exalt the details of the contemporary furniture present within. The result is an elegant, modern and evocative atmosphere, typical of the Hard Rock style.
