Litokol at Cersaie 2018

Litokol presents the Zherorisk® project at Cersaie 2018

Unprecedented in the building world, Litokol – which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year – shines the spotlight on the results of the Zero project. A new future-proof technology that will soon produce a new generation of zero impact products.

Rubiera, 24 September 2018 – Litokol, the Reggio Emilia-based company specialising in the production of adhesives, sealants, building materials and interior décor products presents the results of the Zherorisk® research at Cersaie 2018, in the new stand and location (hall 31A, stand A6). The company will also present new cementitious adhesives and Spaziocontinuo resins.

In line with the company’s mission and thanks to the Zherorisk® Technology, Litokol aims to create wellness for all by creating unique products and transmitting values of excellence.

2018 was a very important year for Litokol, which celebrated its 50th anniversary and completed the Zherorisk® applied research project. Conducted by the Litokol R&D Centre in collaboration with academic institutions and the High Technology Network of Emilia Romagna, the project was financed by the region of Emilia-Romagna and by the European Union. Zherorisk® is not a product but a future-proof technology aimed at developing a generation of innovative, eco-friendly and “zero-impact” building products that meet all the health and safety requirements for operators and the environment.

The scientifically innovative intuition of the project does not involve working on individual products, but concentrates “upstream” on technologies that can replicate different types of formulations with the same basic characteristics. The project has allowed developing four chemical technologies made up of innovative base materials: high-solid liquid resin system, water-based liquid resin system, cementitious system and powder resin system.

These innovative base materials will allow formulating a new generation of products consisting of three ranges: adhesives and grouts, decorative resins and anti-seismic mortars.

These “zero impact” range of products will ensure the health and safety of the applicator and the environment (non-corrosive, nontoxic, and non-hazardous for the environment), with very low VOC emissions to guarantee high air quality for operators throughout the entire building process and for healthy homes.

They will also be ADR-free and, therefore, problems and costs relating to transport and logistics will be significantly reduced. Consequently, there will be no restrictions arising from the ADR regulations on the transport of hazardous goods by road and no obligation for IMO-approved containers on ships. This will mean simplified storage procedures and a reduction in logistic times and costs.

Today’s building and design industries require increasingly safer and more innovative solutions. To meet these needs the Zherorisk® products formulated with the use of renewable raw materials and recycled materials will have a low carbon footprint i.e. low greenhouse gas emission, and will also have low environmental impact (based on the Life Cycle Assessment) throughout their entire life cycle.

New cementitious adhesives with a new look

Litokol is expanding its range of cementitious adhesives with the introduction of a new class C2TE S1 cementitious adhesive. Powerflex K50 is the first product with the new graphics, more in line with the company’s coordinated image. The Litokol brand is clearly visible on the bag and the choice of red as the leitmotiv for the packaging gives greater recognition to the Litokol brand, which focuses more and more on protecting the environment and users of its innovative products.

The new Powerflex K50 is also the first cementitious adhesive from the Litokol range that comes in 20 kg bags in order to comply with the European directives on the protection of load-handling operators.

This product joins the range of Class S1 deformable adhesives, together with Superflex K77, which will soon be significantly enhanced and will be produced with dust reduction technology to reduce the dispersion of dust in the environment during use. Significant investments have recently been made to Litokol’s production area with the purchase of new high-technology production systems and lines. The investments also involve the packaging lines which now allow the valve of the bag to be sealed, preventing dust from being released during packaging, storage and handling.

Spaziocontinuo and the new Hidrolux Evo topcoat

The complete system of Spaziocontinuo resins proposed in two floor ranges (which can also be applied to walls), SpazioCemento and SpazioResina and two ranges specifically for walls, SpazioChiaroscuro and SpazioMetallo, introduces a new two-component topcoat called Hidrolux Evo. This new protective paint replaces the previous one and can be used on both walls and floors. It will be available in satin and opaque versions. The new topcoat is completely stainproof and allows applying two coats on the same day, thus speeding up the work.

Hidrolux Evo also replaces the Litolux and Litolux Extra products which are no longer in the range.
