LITOKOL OBTAINS ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATION ISO 14001:2015

The certification attests to the company’s ongoing commitment, from its headquarters in Reggio Emilia, to environmental protection, adding to its ISO 9001:2015 quality certification held since 1999.

Backed by more than 50 years’ experience in the production of adhesives, grouts and special products for the ceramic and building sector, Litokol recently obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification for its environmental management system, a symbolic recognition of its ongoing commitment to the control of its production process and relative impact on the local territory.

A corporate environmental management system defines the basic rules of interaction between the company and the environment: the requirements set out by ISO 14001 therefore provide the basis and certified guidelines for the development of an environmental management system. Litokol regularly and voluntarily arranges for its industrial process to be assessed in order to measure and certify its level of sensitivity and sense of responsibility toward the issue of environmental protection, declaring its aim for continuous improvement.

This type of planning, implementation, control and continuous review for the purpose of optimising its processes primarily concerns environmental performance, but more generally also involves the entire company in a virtuous system of self-evaluation in regards to its own performance and impact on the local territory.

Litokol’s declared company mission is in fact to invest in eco-sustainable research, becoming advocates for a new way of conceiving the design and construction of buildings in respect of human health and environmental protection.

Hence why Litokol has just recently implemented, across much of its range, the results of the Zherorisk® research project, which allowed the company to develop innovative building products by the name of EVO, all eco-friendly and “zero risk” for transport, the installer, the end user and homes.

Litokol’s ISO 9001:2015 Quality System certification held since 1999 is now supported and supplemented by the recently obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification.

The ISO 9000 code identifies a series of regulations and guidelines that define a quality management system able to implement and map company processes, improve the efficacy and efficiency of product development and service provision, assess and improve the level of customer satisfaction.

Finally, in view of these two important process certifications, Litokol’s Research & Development Department is implementing several measures connected to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of products and their so-called “environmental footprint” (EPD - Environmental Product Declaration), a declaration of the product’s environmental certification, available to the public. The company will therefore be able to certify its impact in terms of eco-sustainability and the specific contribution of individual materials to the key principles of the circular economy, the new frontier of research and ultimate goal in the Litokol group’s journey of growth.
