Litokol contributes to the renovation of the Grand Hyatt hotel in Jakarta

The recent restyling of the Grand Hyatt hotel in Jakarta was a significant challenge for Litokol: it was an opportunity for the company to offer its experience and demonstrate the effectiveness of its systems and the quality of its products.

Located in the iconic Plaza Indonesia complex on Jalan M.H. Thamrin, the grand avenue in downtown Jakarta, the Grand Hyatt hotel is not only designed to convey an idea of timeless luxury, but also to act as a city retreat for business and leisure travellers. It offers convenient access to office buildings, government offices, embassies, cultural attractions and shopping centres.

A characteristic element of the restyling project for the entire complex were the two outdoor swimming pools, which presented many different problems: structural (there were cracks and subsidence), waterproofing (widespread water leakage) and aesthetic (detachment of the existing coating, colour changes of the grouting and the presence of fungus and mould on them). The renovation was carried out using some of the top products in the Litokol catalogue.

The surfaces to be coated were smoothed with Litoplan Smart levelling compound.

The waterproofing of tanks, horizontal surfaces and especially curved immersed walls and stairways was made possible through the use of Aquamaster EVO, the waterproof fibre-reinforced elastic membrane that requires neither perimeter strips nor reinforcement mesh, guaranteeing the waterproofing of pools of any size and architectural shape.

A precious vitreous mosaic was the covering chosen by the architects for all the pool surfaces, and Litoplus K55 adhesive was used to ensure perfect adhesion to the waterproofing system, a cementitious adhesive designed by Litokol to guarantee maximum performance when immersed in the pool.

In some areas where the substrate was metal (steps, benches, steel dormeuse), the installation of the mosaic was guaranteed thanks to the use of Litoelastic EVO adhesive, which, thanks to its very high performance, offers a solution for laying even in the most extreme situations.

The grouting, which is the most important and delicate aesthetic element of the installation, was carried out with Starlike EVO, the flexible, non-absorbent epoxy grout, coloured with sintered quartz, stain-resistant, without pigments, resistant to UV rays and the most critical conditions. In the elastic joints, Litosil Color pure silicone sealant was used, which is elastic, mould-resistant and resistant to chlorine and UV rays.
