Geometry and design
Our sail in Rudolf Schmutz's former villa
On the island of Albarella, surrounded by the Venetian lagoon, stands the iconic residence of Rudolf Schmutz, the famous Playboy photographer, designed by architect Darrell Fleeger. This villa, with its bold geometric lines and enigmatic aesthetics, is a modern work of art. Today, a Veneto entrepreneur is its owner and has embarked on an ambitious restoration project aimed at preserving and enhancing the building's exceptional historical and artistic heritage.
The challenge we faced in this exclusive project was to install a shade sail that would integrate with the particular forms of the villa, emphasising its design without disturbing its architectural harmony. The choice fell on a triangular sail, sober and with clean lines, which fits elegantly into the context, adapting perfectly to the geometry of the residence.
Thanks to its configuration, this shade sail not only blends in with the villa's bold and refined character, but also enriches the outdoor space, providing a protected and welcoming area where the unique atmosphere of the island can be enjoyed. The result is a perfect balance of functionality and design that pays homage to the original artistic vision and enhances its value in a contemporary setting.
