Crogiolo Rice wins the Archiproducts Design Awards 2021

Chosen from more than 750 international entries, Crogiolo Rice wins the Archiproducts Design Awards 2021 in the Finishes category.

There were over 750 entries from all over the world for the Archiproducts Design Awards 2021. Crogiolo Rice by Marazzi has won in the Finishes category because it provides a “unique concept, and represents excellence in creativity, technology and research”. And also because it embodies a theme which runs right through the various categories, sustainability, meaning the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials and state-of-the-art production technologies that minimise environmental impact.

Thanks to the in-depth research into glazes and colour involved in its development, Rice is a contemporary reinterpretation of hand-made majolica brick tiles, with all their density of glaze, shine and beautiful imperfection given new life in porcelain stoneware. Rice is available in the 15x15, 5x15 and 7.5x20 cm sizes for complete modularity, in four colours – Blu, Grigio, Bianco and Natural – and in four decorative variants to enable original wallcovering effects.

The name Crogiolo references Marazzi’s 1980s research centre, established to experiment with craft techniques and arts applied to ceramic materials. It was a hotbed of ideas that were ahead of their time and combined creativity with industrial production.
