On the other side of the globe …

An exceptional dual-functionality being both a material for acoustic absoption and solar protection in this unique wine-tasting venue called « The Glass House ».

Noel Lane Architects called upon Mermet’s experience to seeking a solution to two pressing issues at the spectacular award winning Glass House building they designed for Brick Bay Winery in Mataka. The obvious issue was sun control, but the other, more difficult one, was a solution to acoustic problems in the unique all-glass structure.

Made from an acoustical solution with a patented special weft, designed to absorb sound waves and help control acoustic reverberations it was possible to solve both these problems at the same time, by installing innovative Mermet’s Acoustis® 50 fabric, Galet 0710 colour. Thanks to the Mermet panels installed by the blind manufacturer SP Blinds using a « double velum » system, it maintained the building’s aesthetic qualities.
