Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026: novelties from Milano Bedding and the contemporary sofa bed sector
At the Salone, soft, enveloping shapes emerge, along with generous volumes, in line with the three sofa beds presented by Milano Bedding. A new vision of sleeper sofas, combining international design, innovation, and advanced comfort.
From April 21st to 26th, at Fiera Milano Rho, Milano Bedding welcomed visitors from around the world, confirming its leading role in the quality sofa bed sector, an expression of Made in Italy excellence.
Soft, enveloping shapes, generous volumes, and an increasingly central concept of comfort in the living experience are the pillars of this edition of the upholstered furniture sector. Sofas and convertible systems are designed as truly welcoming "shells," offering protection, well-being, and flexibility of use.
This evolution is complemented by a growing focus on modularity and multifunctionality, with furnishings designed to adapt to dynamic spaces and ever-changing lifestyles, transcending the rigid distinction between function and form.
In this context, Milano Bedding interpreted these trends through a stand that evoked the simplicity and elegance of Japanese style—warm and welcoming, structured into panels designed to best showcase the products presented.
Comfort was the underlying theme of the display, in dialogue with the vision of two leading international designers: Karim Rashid, collaborating with the company for the first time, and Christophe Pillet, presenting two versions of the new Foster sofa and Rufus, a model showed in 2025.
Among the new offerings, Scott, the sofa bed designed in-house, stands out, representing a further step in the evolution of convertible systems.
Completing the display was Vivien, a timeless sofa designed by Alessandro Elli in an elegant leather and fabric version.
Kirk: the sofa bed designed by Karim Rashid
2026 marks the beginning of the collaboration with Karim Rashid, resulting in Kirk, a sofa inspired by jazz musician Rahsaan Roland Kirk.
This project introduces a fluid and distinctive language, an expression of the designer's renowned "sensual minimalism." The organic, enveloping shapes eliminate any visual rigidity, creating a welcoming and distinctive sofa. The theme of transformability is thus reinterpreted in a refined way, seamlessly connecting aesthetics and function.
Kirk interprets the sofa bed as a central element of contemporary living: an elegant and discreet sofa by day, a spacious and comfortable bed by night.
Another distinctive feature is the sideway sleeping position, which optimizes space by reducing the frontal depth. The Lampolet mechanism ensures simple and immediate transformation, enhancing functionality.
With Kirk, Milano Bedding redefines the concept of a designer sofa bed, combining aesthetics, innovation, and versatility.
Foster: the essential elegance of Christophe Pillet
The creative journey continues with Christophe Pillet, who, after Marsalis and Rufus, now designs Foster.
This sofa bed stands out for its clean lines, balanced proportions, and a rigorous elegance that complements Milano Bedding's technical expertise in designing convertible systems.
Foster was born from a concept of sophisticated comfort, where formal balance and function merge into a project with a clear and contemporary identity. The low frame, deep seat, and soft shapes create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
Modularity is one of its strengths: linear and corner elements and a chaise longue allow for customized configurations, ideal for both domestic and contract settings.
The Lampolet system allows for practical transformation, with a slatted base and a high-resilience mattress, to ensure quality sleep.
Scott: the sofa bed designed for daily use
Completing Milano Bedding's 2026 new products is the Scott sofa, designed in-house.
This model represents a significant evolution: a sofa bed that is ever closer to a traditional bed in terms of comfort and performance. Scott is designed to offer an authentic sleeping experience, even for daily use. In just a few simple steps, it unfolds into an orthopaedic bed that guarantees consistent support over time.
Its main features are:
10 cm thick mattress
plywood slatted base for resilient and durable support, with proper weight distribution and good mattress ventilation
compact structure, perfect for small spaces
integrated seat topper for superior comfort
Every detail of Scott is designed to offer practicality, well-being, and durability, without sacrificing a simple and restrained design.
Innovation and Design: Milano Bedding's Vision
With Kirk, Foster, and Scott, Milano Bedding confirms its commitment to rethinking the sofa bed as a central element of contemporary living.
The company continues to stand out for its international design, Made in Italy quality, innovation in convertible systems, and attention to daily well-being.
Each offering offers a concrete answer to today's needs: a reliable, comfortable, and discreet sofa bed that integrates seamlessly into any space.
