MALKA restaurant x MORE
A global taste journey, fired by tradition and framed by modern design.
In the fall of 2024, Malka in West Palm Beach, Florida welcomed its guests for the first time. The roots of the restaurant—as well as those of its creator and head chef—lie in Tel Aviv. In 1989, Eyal Shani opened his first culinary venture in Jerusalem. Today, he is not only a chef but also a culinary entrepreneur and the owner of numerous restaurant brands around the globe. Like its locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, the new Malka offers kosher cuisine inspired by flavors from all around the world.
Simply overwhelming is the concept envisioned by Kimmel Eshkolot Architects: a seamless integration of fire and community, warm wood and soft concrete gray, lightness and lush greenery, indoors and outdoors, Florida and Palm Beach. The defining features include an open kitchen designed around a live-fire grill, as well as permeable interior walls made of 15,000 custom perforated concrete elements. These reference the idea of the mashrabiya, a traditional Middle Eastern architectural element that regulates air and light.
All of this—and more—unfolds across nearly 1,000 square meters of space in a historic building from the 1930s. Every detail has been carefully considered, crafted from selected materials and made to measure—including our contribution at more. The initial request, coming through our long-standing partner Habitat in Tel Aviv, was for the LAX bench, which we equipped with fire-resistant upholstery to meet the complex U.S. fire safety regulations. We translated the NIL table into various formats and aligned it with the interior’s warm color palette using smoked oak and matte finishes. This sparked the desire to use NIL outdoors as well, prompting a fresh redesign. The resulting version is made from weather-resistant smoked acacia with slatted tabletops—essentially a completely new piece of furniture that fits seamlessly into the concept of a Mediterranean garden. Guests who choose to sit outside can enjoy not only the salty, mild Atlantic breeze but also a comfortable seat on one of our BOP benches. For these, only the upholstered modules were used, mounted on concrete platforms without visible connecting seams.
